Our dental clinic processes & procedures
During your visit here at Woodhams & Walker Dental, you can expect a thorough check-up where we’ll take the time to really understand what’s happening in your mouth. Our comprehensive exam includes:

  • Diagnostic tests

  • An oral cancer screening

  • Oral hygiene instructions

  • Enamel wear observation

  • Holes, cracks and chips identified

  • Bite pressure sensitivity checked

Don’t worry, it’s a quick, painless and an easy process! Plus, we’ll provide you with helpful tips and instructions on how to keep your mouth healthy and clean.

Typically, a general dental checkup only takes between 15-30 minutes, which means you’ll be in and out before you know it.

If we do find a cavity during your dental checkup, depending on the severity of the hole, we may just put a temporary filling in for the meantime. We will also give you a clear understanding of costings before you come back to get the cavity (s) properly treated. We will:

  • Make sure you are comfortable (first and foremost)
  • Provide you with a dental quote
  • Book you in for another appointment asap
  • Our highly trained Hygienist will examine your mouth to assess the condition of your teeth and gums, checking for any signs of disease. They will then perform a professional cleaning and polishing using modern dental techniques. This process effectively removes bacteria and plaque from both the gum surfaces and below them. Following the removal of plaque, your teeth will be polished, leaving them feeling smooth and fresh.

Additionally, your hygienist will provide guidance on proper at-home dental care. They will offer advice on various aspects of dental hygiene, including the correct use of toothbrushes and dental floss.

During your dental cleaning, the dental hygienist will use a small mirror to guide them as they remove plaque and tartar from your gum line and between your teeth. While you may hear some scraping, there’s no need to worry, it’s a completely normal part of the process. The amount of tartar present determines how much time necessary in a specific area. Just sit back, relax, and let the hygienist work their magic in giving you a brighter and healthier smile!

When you receive root canal treatment, the process is aimed at removing damaged or infected dental pulp from inside your tooth, making sure it is clean and disinfected before it’s filled and sealed. To restore your dental health, a filling or a crown may be used on the chewing surface of your tooth. It’s a common and essential practice to maintain the health of your teeth, and we make sure that every step is taken to ensure your comfort and well-being throughout the process.

Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal, screwlike posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function much like real ones. It’s a great solution for those looking to improve their smile or chewing abilities.
